What is garden design?

Great garden design does not happen by accident, it is a combination of many different elements and needs careful planning and consideration.

Some of those elements include using scale and proportion, including the vertical proportion of space, achieving the right balance between masses and voids, use of focal points, harmony and contrast, the contrast of colours and textures and forms, use of light and shade, use of symmetry, balance, repetition and rhythm and finding the spirit of the garden...

A good garden designer will lead you through the complex process of creating the perfect garden for you and your family.

No one garden or client is the same, so each design process is tailored to suit the clients needs. You can see the steps of the garden design process on the Process page and can select what you do and don't need, depending on how much or little you want to do yourself.
